On April 2, 1946, General Dwight D. Eisenhower was made an honorary fellow for life of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in recognition of his efforts to save art treasures overseas during World War II.

This collection includes captioned photographs of the ceremony, including those of General and Mrs. Eisenhower, Thomas J. Watson, Francis Cardinal Spellman, Roland L. Redmond and Francis Henry Taylor. Sound recordings of the addresses delivered at the ceremony by Roland L. Redmond, Francis Henry Taylor, General Eisenhower, as well as a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, sung by Mme. Jarmila Novotná, and the invocation by Cardinal Spellman.

Disc transfer from 78rpm aluminum-based 12" lacquer discs and digital restoration by Seth B. Winner Sound Studios, Inc. in 2010.

Funding for the preservation and digital transfer of the audio recordings was provided by the Monuments Men Foundation.
